The Transparent Butterfly

Butterflies are amazing. They can carry up to fifty times their body weight and fly up to twelve miles per hour. Did you know that their exoskeletons keep the moisture in their bodies and that they can only see red, green, and yellow?
There are over twenty-four thousand species of butterflies. Out of these many types, I chose the Glasswing Butterfly. Glasswing Butterflies, or Greta Oto, are in the family Nymphlidae. The tissue in between their wings lack color, so they look like like tiny, breakable little creatures. Despite their appearance, they are actually quite strong. They can carry fifty times their body weight, which is the equivalent of a human carrying two heavy cars filled with people. They can live anywhere from Mexico to Panama. The Glasswing's name in Spanish means “little mirrors”. Their wings have a brownish-red border and are twenty-eight to thirty millimeters from wingtip to wingtip.

Love Story

You might remember in my last post, Singing at Spivey, I talked about how I love to sing. I also love to play piano. Some of the things I like to play are Taylor Swift, Christmas music, and Adele. I especially love Adele because her music has great piano parts.
This is me playing Love Story by Taylor Swift
I love to get my music from our local music store and Music Notes. I have a whole binder full of music from Music Notes!

Spivey Hall Young Artists' Choir, 2012
I am a member of the Spivey Hall Children's Choir.  We drive to Morrow, GA, once a week for rehearsal. Every practice starts with our accompanist teaching us music theory and solfege. We warm up, doing breathing exercises and singing scales, then our director, Dr. Shaw, comes in and rehearses our songs with us.
I enjoy singing at Spivey because there are students from all over Atlanta that come to be in the choir. Dr. Shaw teaches us so much and I am thankful for this opportunity.

When Piper Davis' brother enlists in the military, she is devastated. Stationed in Pearl Harbor in 1941, you can imagine his fate.
Or can you?
